this challenge will be set up every time someone goes through it.
You find a building. You enter the building. You find a sign. It reads.
TAKE A CHANCE. FIND SIGNS THAT MARK SPOTS
DIG THROUGH THE SPOTS. YOU MIGHT FIND A PRIZE
THEN AGAIN, YOU MIGHT MEET A NOT SO GOOD SURPRISE.
(You must set a bed as home in the start room because if you die, you will end up in the start room. Users serving as “referees” may be stationed in each room. If you cheat, they are allowed to kill you. The referees request that you place any belongings you have in a chest at the beginning of the game. You may choose to make the chest private).
You walk through a door, and find a room. In one room, you find a sign. DIG UNDERNEATH THIS SIGN OR CHOOSE TO MOVE ON
If you choose to dig underneath, you will find a chest. Inside is diamond armor, some torches and a sword. You will need this sword for the next room.
You enter the next room. It is dark. And there are monster spawners.
Your job is to set up torches to cancel out the spawners, and then destroy the spawners. If you choose to ignore the previous order, you either win or you die trying to kill the monsters.
Once you are done, you leave the room to find another room. there is a sign here, too.
DIG UNDERNEATH THIS SIGN OR CHOOSE TO MOVE ON
If you dig underneath the sign, you will find a bottomless pit of doom. SPLAT! Dead. If you choose not to dig, there is a prize waiting in the next room.
If you continue to the next room, you will find a chest filled with stacks of golden apples You will need these apples for the next few levels, so take a few.
You find a ladder in the room. Take the ladder up to the second floor. On the second floor, you find a sign saying.
DIG BEHIND THIS WALL YOU WILL FIND SOMETHING EITHER PLEASANT OR UNPLEASANT
You open the wall and find a chest. Inside is a diamond pickaxe. You will need this pickaxe for the next level.
You enter to find a wall of obsidian. You will need to dig through this wall. One spot on the wall conceals a door. You can either take a lucky guess and attack a random spot, or you can destroy the entire wall. This could take some time.
Once you are done, you enter the next room. Inside are 2 doors. A sign reads.
ONE OF THESE DOORS LEADS TO THE NEXT LEVEL THE OTHER LEADS TO (UN)CERTAIN DEATH
The death door (either door number 1 or 2) leads to a splash potion. It will splash on you. If you took the golden apples, you can use these to survive. The other door leads to another room.
In this room you find yourself standing on top of a maze of lava of sorts. It’s a lake and the lava is filling it. The only way to cross is to walk across a narrow path. If you fall in, you die. If you don’t fall in, there’s a reward for you...a ladder that leaves to the third level.
This level is a little harder. this room opens up over a small room. At the bottom of the room is a floor filled with monster spawners. Your job is to use some blocks that are sitting in the air as stepping stones to get to the next room. If you fall down, you will face the monsters. If you can defeat the monsters, you will find a door with a ladder that leads to the other side of the room, which allows you to bypass the perilous stepping stones. ss In the next room, there are once again two doors. Enter one door and you get killed by a group of monsters. Enter the other and you find another room with a ladder. Take the ladder upstairs.
This level is really easy, and is more like preparation for the top floor.
When you reach the top, you will find a chest filled with cobblestone. Take the cobblestone, because you will need this soon.
Once you have taken the cobblestone, you enter another room. Inside is a chest with a pickaxe. Take the pickaxe and go through the next door. Inside you find a staircase. Take the staircase up and find a room with 2 doors. One of the doors falls out, and you’ll more than likely die when you reach the bottom. The other door leads to a ladder. Ride the ladder upstairs to the top floor. On the top floor, it opens out to the sky. There is a small ledge. If you walk out onto the ledge, you will see a door on the side of the building. A sign reads. BUILD YOURSELF A STAIRCASE AND TRY TO REACH THAT DOOR. OR DIE.
You must use the cobblestone from the other room to build your staircase. Be warned that if you fall, you will either die or end up at the start of the game once more. Once you reach the door, you find a long hallway. You enter the hallway and walk through it. You might notice that the hallway seems to be going downwards. You keep on walking to find...
A sign that reads YOU WON!
You can return to the start of the game to retrieve your things.
Approved! Looks very complex. Please remember that you need to take pictures EVERY WEEK and document what you accomplished. ~knowclue
1/31/12 Last week, Mr Malmstrom set up a server for me. The location i’m using is a desert. I cleared out a pot in the desert. The building will be rectangular in some ways, so I will make a building that is about 15 by 45. I should note that I need to make the walls 3 blocks thick so monsters don’t somehow leak through (this is why I hate monsters). So I’ll actually decide how big it’ll be while I’m working on it.
Today, I think I’ll fill the monster room with spawners. To prevent skeleton from entering the break rooms, I will have 2 doors into each of the monster rooms. Come to think of it, spawners are a little unpredictable. I’ll use eggs. This is the waiting room. These chests will be assigned to the people who take the challenge. These are the signs with the instructions for the one doing the challenge. This is the room with the chest that has the armor, swords, and the torches. Let’s go back to the first image. You can see that the building has a stone brick outside, a cobblestone inside, and obsidian in between. This is a precaution: I don’t want monsters ending up inside the building. Each room will have the obsidian in the middle of the walls for this precaution. Underneath the cobblestone floor is an obsidian layering. This’ll prevent spiders from popping up from underneath the floor. 2/7/12 Today I intend on finishing up the first floor Mr malmstrom said there is a mod I can use to choose what monsters come out of the spawners. So I will use that mod for the time being. Last week I neglected to show what was under the floor, so here it is. An obsidian layer, plus cobblestone.
while I was digging under the floor of the spawner room, I found what might be a mine. I’m leaving it alone for now. If I have time, I’ll fill it with either water or lava so it won’t be a problem.
Unfortunately, the pit can’t go very far before entering a mine, so I will instead fill a small pit with lava. The room with the golden apples. Hmm. A ladder? Where does this go? No where at the moment. But congrats, because you finished the first level. You know, this actually looks a lot like one of those racetracks.
2/14/12 Happy Valentines Day! I might be a little ambitious, but I’m gonna try to finish the 2nd level today. This is the interior of the room This is what people will find when they dig behind the wall. The Second room with the obsidian wall. The wall. The name Ronald Reagan comes to mind. Need to change this. Unfortunately, I didn’t get much headway because SOMEONE kicked the cord out of the outlet (and was very rude about it, too). So this is all i got done. the door on the other side. 2/28/12 Well, today I’m not happy. But who’s complaining? Oh wait...me Mr. Malmstrom showed me how to stop monster spawning. I should have smooth sailing from now on. The finished room. Door 2. Beware the splash potion. ? which? From the bubbling tarpits to the sulfurous wasteland, we take you now to the land of gorch! Well, actually, it’s a lava pit. Inside. The building in it’s current state.
3/13/12 So, unfortunately, I haven’t had time to write about my project because I’ve either been sick or we’ve had vacation. I haven’t even had time to work on it. I’ve found out how to make a splash potion (thank you, Mr. Malmstrom). I placed maintenance shafts everywhere so people can refill rooms easily. the Stepping stones. The room (that’s a maintenance shaft on the left).
3/20/12 I intend on finishing level 3 today. Monster room (without monsters at the moment). The 2 doors. Next time I’ll finish. A ladder? where does it go? A chest fit for cobblestone. A chest fit for diamond pickaxes. 2 doors. One leaves to a shaft that hits the ground, the other leads to the next level. that’s it for this week.
4/10/12 I intend on finishing today. This is what the building looks like now. The shaft looks a lot more like a gun now that’ i’ve finished it. Morbid, huh? Doesn’t look too hard. It’s harder than it looks
A staircase? where does this lead? OH, JOY! 3 months of work. It was worth it.
This looks incredibly cool, Kenjiro! I cannot wait to test it! ~kc
